D.I.Y. Energizing Coffee & Sugar Scrub w/ Citrus Oils

This exfoliating scrub is a perfect addition to your morning shower, and packs a huge punch in the skincare department, while staying healthy and organic. The caffeine from the coffee grinds is an effective combatant to cellulite and can help wake you up, while the peppermint oil stimulates and energizes. The raw sugar exfoliates and softens the skin as the olive oil moisturizes.Besides the awesome skincare benefits, this DIY gets even better when you find out just how easy it is to do, so take a look at the ingredients and instructions below!TI can count very easily how many time I've drank coffee. While I don't need a cup of coffee in the morning before I feel truly awake I love I love the way it smells… the way it looks… I love exploring different coffee shops, too. So when I came across the idea of creating a body scrub using ground coffee, you know I was all in.

This scrub is made from simple ingredients that you will most likely have in your kitchen already.
So, let’s talk benefits!

Coffee is rich in antioxidants, making it an awesome anti-inflammatory ingredient. It contains caffeine, which draws out excess moisture from your skin, causing it to look and feel smoother and firmer. In this scrub, coffee acts as a mild exfoliant, removing dead skin cells and exposing fresh, soft skin.

Coconut oil is one of our favorite natural beauty ingredients over here. It’s incredibly moisturizing and filled with vitamins and minerals, which it locks securely into your skin.

Exfoliating with a sugar scrub doesn't relax the muscles, the way salt does, but it relaxes the mind with its delicious smell. Sugar is also full of glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid that is crucial for maintaining healthy skin and is usually a key ingredient in pricey products. The natural glycolic acid in sugar not only helps condition and moisturize skin, but protect it from toxins.
Far from clogging the skin, sugar works well to cleanse completely, so it can reduce any current body acne you may have and also help prevent further breakouts. Sugar moisturizes on its own, but as most sugar scrub recipes require oil or honey to help form a paste, it provides even further moisture and allows your skin to achieve more of its natural balance.
So what's the difference with using brown sugar as opposed to white? Brown sugar is gentler, making it ideal for super-sensitive skin. The benefits of a brown sugar scrub extend not just to the body, but also the scalp. Many women with highly sensitive, dandruff-prone scalps find that a brown sugar scrub prior to washing or treating results in healthier, happier hair.
And one big benefit of a brown sugar scrub - it smells wonderful. It has a very deep, rich smell that can allow you to completely relax and pamper yourself.
Coconut oil is excellent massage oil for the skin as well. It acts as an effective moisturizer on all types of skins including dry skin. The benefit of coconut oil on the skin is comparable to that of mineral oil. Further, unlike mineral oil, there is no chance of having any adverse side effects on the skin with the application of coconut oil. Coconut oil therefore is a safe solution for preventing dryness and flaking of skin. It also delays wrinkles, and sagging of skin which normally become prominent with age. Coconut oil also helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections. Coconut oil also helps in preventing premature aging and degenerative diseases due to its antioxidant properties.

Any of the Citrus oils Orange, Lemon, Grapefruit, Petitgrain, Neroli, and Bergamot are great at stimulation and boosting your energy. So are Peppermint and Spearmint.
