DIY Anti Fungal Healing Peppermint Foot Butter With Clove Oil

This foot butter was formulated for someone who stands on their feet for an extended period of time. Aching, cracked feet, or any form of bacterial or fungal infections like athletes foot. Fungal foot infections can be the peskiest kind of infection to get rid of because once they find a host, they like to stick around for the long haul. Though you can cure fungal infections using salves, creams, butters and sprays, diet is also a major factor in helping to clear a fungus from your body. A diet high in sugar and yeast will lead to an overgrowth of yeast within the body, causing a fungal infection. A more alkaline whole foods diet is recommended to help aid in ridding your body completely of the fungus.
Along with a diet change there are a few other things you can do to get rid of that pesky foot fungus. My favorite natural treatment is this anti fungal and rejuvenating foot butter. With a foot butter I can combine the natural healing properties of herbs, essential oils, carrier oils, butters, and more! Body butters are also highly moisturizing to the skin so they make skin repair much quicker than it would with a convention pharmaceutical treatment. This works wonders on dry cracked feet.

There are many herbs that are very helpful to healing a fungal infection, but the two that are most notable and usually can be found in the best of herbal anti-fungal salves are chaparral and black walnut. These two are stand out herbs in the anti-fungal department but there are plenty more herbs that can be used in your foot butter to help heal fungal infections:
Chaparral leaf - Not only is chaparral anti-fungal but it is also antibacterial, antiseptic, and anti-parasitic. This herb is jam packed with skin healing properties and packs a powerful punch against fungal infections.
Black Walnut Hulls - The most commonly used herb in anti-fungal creams and sprays, black walnut hulls are also antibacterial, antiseptic, and anti-parasitic. Any really good herbal salve for fungal infections will have black walnut hulls in it.
Echinacea -  Not only is this herb a super immune booster, which helps aid the body in ridding infections faster, but this super herb is also anti-fungal!
Cloves - Cloves contain some of the same phenols as Oil of Oregano, which are highly anti-fungal in nature, as well as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory. This oil has been prized for centuries for its anti-fungal properties.
Lavender - I really believe that lavender is one of those herbs that is the heal-all end-all "god herbs". This herb is good for so many things, it's not surprising that it is also anti-fungal. What can't lavender do?
Calendula - One of the best skin healing herbs, calendula is not just great for healing wounds and lacerations but also fungal infections. Calendula is great at reducing inflammation, treating burns, scrapes, eczema, and more!
Garlic - Not only is garlic one of the most potent natural antibiotics healing anything from ear infections to colds, garlic is also highly anti-fungal. You can throw some garlic into a blender with a little bit of water or oil and rub it onto your feet or infected area. Some people even like to sprinkle garlic powder into their shoes when fighting a foot fungus.
The list of healing herbs go on and on.
There are many healing essential oils that are anti fungal.
Clove essential oil is certainly one of the best essential oils that you can use in the treatment of fungal infection. Scientific research has found it to be effective in treating at least 15 different forms of fungi which includes the common complaint-candida albicans.

A study carried out in 2010 (Nozaki) found that the main constituent of clove essential oil, eugenol had especially powerful effects in combatting candida. Clove essential oil should be diluted in equal amounts with a carrier oil before applying it topically.

Lemongrass essential oil has many healing properties and is used for a variety of complaints as well as to treat fungal infection. Lemongrass essential oil helps destroy internal fungal infections like ringworm and is also used for external infections such as athlete’s foot and jock itch.

Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia most frequently recommended for the treatment of athletes foot, candida, in fact any sort of fungus. Tea Tree Oil is an effective all round antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal oil.
Geranium Oil - also has anti-fungal and antiseptic properties helping to fight bacteria.
Myrrh - has anti-fungal properties, but is the best oil to help with the dry, cracking skin.  Myrrh works will on Athlete's foot when combined with Lavender Oil.
Peppermint Oil - will help with the odor associated with Athlete's foot, it will also help fight the fungal infection, stimulates blood circulation and will help relieve the itch.  Peppermint oil works really well when combined with Lavender and Tea Tree Oils.
Shea butter is the fan favorite when it comes to a natural moisturizer.
What is Shea Butter?

Shea butter is a skin super food that comes from the seeds of the fruit of the Shea (Karite) tree and that is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F. It offers UV protection (it is SPF ~6) and provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production. Shea butter has been used in Africa and other countries for years to improve skin and hair.
Shea Butter Benefits
  • Moisturizing: The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in Shea butter makes it incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for skin. It is often used to remedy dry skin and to help protect the skin’s natural oils.
  • Reduces Inflammation: A 2010 study found that due to its cinnamic acid and other natural properties, shea butter was anti-inflammatory. (source) One compound in particular, lupeol cinnamate, was found to reduce skin inflammation and even potentially help avoid skin mutations. This also makes it beneficial for some people with acne.
  • Skin Smoothing: Shea butter aids in the skin’s natural collagen production and contains oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids that protect and nourish the skin to prevent drying. With long term use, many people report skin softening and strengthening as well as wrinkle reduction.
Natural beeswax is a wondrous thing. Made by busy bees and harvested by beekeepers it is a wonderful ingredient found in many beauty products. When mixed with the right oils and creams it can be used for multiple purposes – for healing, protecting and moisturizing. These three reasons are precisely why beeswax heel balm is the perfect treatment for cracked heels – as this is a condition of the feet that really benefits from what nature provides us with.
  • Beeswax acts as a breathable barrier on the skin. You can help to stop the risk of infection thanks to the barrier that will work to capture the dirt and grime that otherwise could easily work its way into the cracks. This helps to reduce the risk of infection and protect your feet from damage caused by over exposure to water and other extremities.
Beeswax helps cream to thicken and become more luxuriant – but it also heals. Beeswax contains anti-bacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory goodness that all work towards promoting excellent skin health and heels problem areas – such as cracked heels! Moisturize and Soften
Beeswax is nature’s emollient – it will attract moisture where you need it, seal it inside all while allowing the skin to breathe as it needs to. You will also benefit from the natural source of Vitamin A, known for its ability to bring new life to dry skin, help cell reconstruction and leave your hard cracked skin softer and healthier at the same time. Sounds great doesn’t it?
So there you have it, the miracle of beeswax and why you should be using it to deal with those pesky cracked heels.
